One of those who had contact with the Italian who tested positive for coronavirus in Lagos has contracted the disease.
Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, confirmed this today at a press conference in Edo State.
He however assured Nigerians that the situation is under control.
He said the patient had been in isolation in the last two weeks and is now under quarantine.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) also confirmed this in a tweet today.
NCDC tweeted, “This second case is a contact of the index case, in Ogun State.
“The new case has been in isolation and was tested as part of our strategy to test all contacts of the index case.”
Nigeria’s index case of coronavirus, a consultant working with Lafarge Cement, flew into the country from Milan on February 24.
