A suspected terror attack targeting a train station has occurred in the Russian city of St Petersburg.
President Vladimir Putin is in his hometown of St Petersburg today for talks with the president of Belarus and has confirmed “there are dead and injured” and offered his condolences to the families of those killed.
Investigators are looking into a possible terror attack, as well as keeping an open mind to the motive of the subway blast, the Kremlin leader said.
He said: “I have already spoken to the head of our special services and they are working to ascertain the cause of the blasts.
“The causes are not clear, it’s too early. We will look at all possible causes, terrorism as well as common crime.”

Reports say two nail bombs on the metro ripped through train carriages killing at least 10 people.
The incident occurred at two separate locations, including Sennaya Ploshchad train station, leaving at least 50 injured including children.
The Life News website showed pictures of blown-out train doors and several injured people on the station platform.
