Acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration, of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Ibanga Bassey, has died.
Sources say they suspect foul play in his death and allege that he died of food poisoning.
NewsmakersNG learnt that his body has been to the Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, Port Harcourt, for possible autopsy.
There are however reports that Bassey died of COVID-19 after NDDC management issued a memo today directing all staff to vacate the headquarters of the Commission and embark on 14 days self-quarantine.
The memo also indicated that the premises would be decontaminated during the period.
It was however silent on the reason the Commission’s management took such drastic decisions.
His sudden occurred death amid the forensic audit of the Commission ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The National Assembly is also probing the finances of the Commission under its present Interim Management Committee.
