Breaking: Naira Marley Regains Freedom

Ololade Adeyanju/

Reports say Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been released from prison custody after perfecting his bail conditions.

In a video that is making the rounds on social media, the music star was seen in company of his mother and some other members of his crew shortly after he regained his freedom.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos had on May 30 granted bail to the musician but ordered that he be remanded in prison until he perfects his bail conditions.

Justice Oweibo had said one of the sureties must be on Grade Level 10 in the federal or state employment.

The other surety must have a landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.

The judge also directed the EFCC to verify the bail terms and adjourned until October 22 for trial.

Naira Marley was charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 11 count charge bordering on cybercrime, possession of counterfeit cards and conspiracy to obtain gain.
