Updated: Many Injured as Explosion Rocks Popular Port Harcourt Shopping Mall

A fire caused by an explosion reportedly razed part of the popular Spar Shopping Mall in Port Harcourt this evening.

NewsmakersNG learnt that no fewer than five persons, including staff and shoppers, were injured in the incident.

The explosion was reportedly triggered by a gas leak at the continental cuisines’ kitchen, located within the mall.

NewsmakersNG also learnt that five workers at the kitchen, who were badly burnt were rushed to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

A video posted on Twitter by an eyewitness showed some workers at the mall using water hydrants to tackle the fire.
