A petrol tanker lost control and fell around Anthony village in Lagos late this evening, igniting a fire that reportedly consumed two vehicles and their occupants.
Fire fighters are currently battling to curtail the raging fire.
A situation report tweeted by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) via @lasemasocial, reads:
“Preliminary report on tanker on fire at Anthony inward Gbagada. We responded to distress calls and upon arrival at the scene, discovered that a tanker with unknown registration number conveying PMS lost control while in motion and subsequently fell sideways causing an explosion.
“Two unidentified vehicles got burnt.
A joint team of responders led by @OkeOsanyintolu, @LAG_FireService, @NigeriaPolice and @followlastma are working together to curb the inferno from escalating further.
“Casualties cannot be ascertained at this time. Updates to follow.”
In a separate tweet, the Federal Fire Service advised motorists to avoid the area.
