Following reports of harassment of residents who are stuck in traffic by security agents, the Lagos State government has shifted the commencement of the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state from 4pm to 9pm.
There were also claims that security agents fired live rounds at some residents who were stuck at the Lekki Toll Plaza this evening.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier today announced the curfew due to the rapid degeneration of the #EndSARS protest into violence after it was hijacked by suspected hoodlums.
But in a tweet this evening via @followlasg, the state government said the governor had directed security forces to delay the enforcement of the curfew order till 9pm.
It said the extension was to allow residents stuck in traffic to get to their destinations.
“Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed that enforcement of the 24hour curfew in the State should not start until 9pm to enable people stuck in traffic get to their destinations,” the tweet read.
