The Emir of Rano, Dr Tafida Abubakar Ila II, is dead.
The 74-year-old emir reportedly died today at Nassarwa Specialist Hospital in Kano at about 4.45 pm during a brief illness.
Rano is one of the new emirates created in Kano after it was split into four by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in May, 2019.
The new emirates of Gaya, Rano, Karaye, and Bichi used to be districts under the Kano Emirate Council.
He was reportedly hospitalised yesterday but the nature of his ailment could not ascertained.
Sources told NewsmakersNG that he was first admitted at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano before he was referred to Nassarwa Specialist Hospital after his condition worsened.
NewsmakersNG also learnt that the late emir would be buried today according to Islamic injunctions.
He is survived by 17 children and two wives. He would be buried Saturday evening in the emirate.
