The leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held an emergency meeting into the early hours of today at the head office in Abuja.
Reports say the meeting was convened to consider the postponement of Saturday’s presidential election.
The chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu and 12 national commissioners attended the meeting.
The meeting was in progress up till 1 a.m with no clear words on whether it was considering postponing the elections.
Rotimi Oyekanmi, the chief press secretary to the INEC chairman told newsmen that the decision of the meeting would be communicated later today.
Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled to take place throughout the country today.
