Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Lyon, has won the Bayelsa State governorship election.
Lyon defeated Douye Diri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in six out of eight local government areas in the state.
The APC polled 352,552 while PDP has 143, 170 votes.
This is the first time the PDP is losing in an election in the state since the return of democracy in 1999.
