Breaking: INEC Clears Zamfara APC Candidates for 2019 General Elections

Malik Yahya/

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally admitted Zamfara State All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates into the 2019 general elections.

This follows the Court of Appeal ruling on yesterday that the electoral commission should accept candidates of the party.

The state chapter of the party was barred from presenting candidates owing to an internal crisis, which did not allow the party to conduct its primaries within the time frame set by INEC.

Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, confirmed this development while responding to a question during his daily stakeholders’ briefing today in Abuja.

He said the Commission had already put in place contingency plans to accommodate such eventualities.
