Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, a one-time Inspector General of Police (IGP) and an old schoolmate of President Muhammadu Buhari, is dead.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the former police chief, who was until his death the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), died Thursday evening in Katsina during a protracted illness, and he would be buried Friday after Jumat service.
His younger brother, Alhaji Dahiru Coomassie, confirmed the death today in Katsina.
He said that Coomassie died this evening during a protracted illness at Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital, Katsina.
Ibrahim Coomassie’s death shocked Katsina Emirate Council, where he held the Sardauna traditional title.
The Secretary of the council, Alhaji Bello Ifo, described Coomassie as a trustworthy person, who will be missed by the nation.
The family sources also confirmed that Coomassie will be buried on Friday after Jumat prayer, while his funeral prayer will be conducted at Banu Coomassie Jumat Mosque, Katsina.
NewsmakersNG also learnt that IGP Ibrahim Idris would be at the interment to pay his last respect.
