Breaking: Channels TV Reporter Shot During Shi’ites Protest Dies

The Channels TV reporter shot during today’s protests by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in Abuja is dead.

The deceased, identified as Precious Owolabi, was a youth corps member serving in the Abuja station of Channels TV.

He was aged 21.

His death, which has been confirmed by her employer, is reminiscent of the first Boko Haram attack in Kano in which a Channels TV correspondent, Enenche Akogwu, was killed on January 20, 2012.

Several others were reportedly killed during today’s protest, including 11 Shi’ite members and a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Usman Umar.
