President Muhammadu Buhari will meet with members of the newly-constituted Economic Advisory Council (EAC) at the State House, Abuja, today.
The EAC was constituted in September 2019 to replace the Economic Management Team headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Today’s meeting is coming on heels of the presentation of the 2020 budget estimates to a joint session of the National Assembly by Buhari yesterday.
The EAC is mandated to advise the President on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth; and a range of internal and global economic issues.
The EAC, chaired by Prof. Doyin Salami, is expected to report directly to the president.
Other members of the council are Dr. Mohammed Sagagi (Vice-Chairman), Prof. Ode Ojowu, Dr. Shehu Yahaya, Dr. Iyabo Masha, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo – Member, Mr. Bismark Rewane and Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu, Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy, who will serve as secretary.
