Bill and Melinda Gates have announced they will divorce after 27 years of marriage.
The Microsoft co-founder disclosed this in a tweet this evening.
Bill wrote that despite “a lot of work on our relationship” the two, who share three children, decided to end their marriage because they “no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives”.
The former couple, who jointly run the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s largest private philanthropic foundation will continue to work together.
Gates is estimated to be worth over $130 billion.
