Updated: 30 Killed, Scores Abducted as Gunmen Attack Emir of Potiskum in Kaduna

Suspected bandits late yesterday night attacked the convoy of Umaru Bubaram, emir of Potiskum in Yobe state, killing at least 30 people and abducting no fewer than 100 others.

Police however said said only six people were killed in the attack while five sustained injuries.

The incident reportedly took place around Fandatio village, near Maraban Jos along the Kaduna-Zaria road.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the emir was on his way to Zaria in Kaduna State when the gunmen opened fire on his convoy.

Police said the Emir was amongst those who sustained severe injuries and still receiving treatment at the hospital.

Spokesman of Kaduna State police command, Sabo Abubakar, said in a statement that the attackers were dressed in military fatigues.

The statement also said many people were kidnapped but did not give a figure.
