He has now reclaimed the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles from Ruiz Jr.

Joshua raises his hands in victory

The fight was held in the purpose-built 15,000 stadium in Diriyah arena in Saudi Arabia.

The judges unanimously adjudged Joshua winner with 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109 over Ruiz Jr.

He becomes the first boxer to win the world heavyweight title bout in the Middle East.

The fight drew comparisons with Muhammad Ali versus George Foreman’s Rumble in the Jungle in Zaire in 1974,

The 30-year old is now the 4th deposed world heavyweight champion to win an immediate rematch in 127-year history of the category.

He came after after Floyd Patterson Vs Ingemar Johansson in 1960, Muhammad Ali Vs Leon Spinks in 1978 and Lennox Lewis Vs Hasim Rahman in 2001.

Speaking after the fight, Joshua says, “First of all, I want to thank God. I want to say, man, the first time was so nice, I had to do it twice. A man like me don’t make no excuses, I’m used to knocking out guys. I said to myself I was going to correct myself. The sweet science of this sport is hitting and not getting caught. I’m hungry and I’m humble. Thank you to Andrew Ruiz and his family.”

Hit and avoid being hit
