Breaking: Another Batch of 315 Returnees Arrive from South Africa

Ololade Adeyanju/

Another batch of 315 Nigerians arrived from South Africa this evening.

The plane carrying the returnees landed at the cargo wing of the international airport in Lagos at 7.10pm.

Nigerian domestic carrier, Air Peace, has been undertaking the evacuation of Nigerians fleeing South Africa in the aftermath of xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals.

Four of the evacuees were however prevented from boarding the flight by South African immigration officials over documentation issues.

Nigerian Embassy officials also disclosed that over 500 people are on the list of those still waiting to be evacuated while more people are registering daily.
