Four aspirants, including the favoured candidate for the Oyo APC governorship ticket, Joseph Tegbe, have announced their withdrawal from the race.
They announced their decision at the ongoing primary election at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
After the electoral committee, led by former minister of state for interior, Demola Seriki, held a brief discussion with the aspirants present at the venue, including Tegbe, Adelabu, Dr Olushola Ayandele, Dr Owolabi Babalola and Mr Niyi Akintola SAN, the concerned aspirants announced their withdrawal from the race.
Tegbe was first to announce his withdrawal and urged his supporters to support the candidate that emerges.
Ayandele and Babalola specifically urged their supporters to back Adelabu’s candidacy. Adedutan had earlier exempted himself from the process by his absence at the primary.
This development leaves Adelabu, Akintola and Alao-Akala as the aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket as voting gets underway after accreditation of delegates.
