A British Airways flight, which took off from London today, made an air return after losing an engine mid-air, according to a report by TVC.
The Abuja-bound flight reportedly took off from Heathrow airport yesterday night and was airborne when its pilot announced that the flight would be returning to base.
Reacting to the development, spokesman of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Sam Adurogboye, said it was not an unusual occurence in aviation.
He said the flight crew took the right decision by returning to base, saying that was the standard precautionary measure.
“As long as you operate a machine, there is bound to be occasional issues. The fact that this has happened to British Airways will enlighten Nigerians that incidences of air return could happen to any airline in any part of the world,” Adurogboye added.
