Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, says 30 staff of a company in Ibadan, the state capital, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The governor disclosed in his daily COVID-19 update via his Twitter handle, @seyimakinde.

According to him, the 30 were among the 31 positive cases of COVID-19 recorded in the state today.

The governor did not disclose the name of the company but said it is located in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the state.

He however said the company had been shut down and premises decontaminated.

He also disclosed that the remaining one case was recorded in Egbeda Local Government Area of the state.

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at 8PM today, is 107,” he further disclosed.

Makinde tweeted, “The COVID-19 confirmation tests for thirty-one suspected cases came back POSITIVE. Thirty of these cases are members of staff of the same organisation based in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. The organisation has been shut down and will be decontaminated.”

“We urge members of the public to remain calm as the situation is under control. Intensified contact tracing has already commenced. We will give an update on any additional measures that may need to be taken,” the governor further tweeted.
