Brazil-Yoruba traditionalists and the Yoruba community in Brazil have expressed their sincere condolences to the leader of the Yoruba sócio-cultural organization in Nigeria – Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti over the killing of his daughter Mrs Funke Olakunrin by persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
A statement received by NewsmakersNG today from Iyalawo Marina de Ile-Aiye of Agbara Shrine, Salvador, Bahia, says, “We are also Yorubas and observers of the Yoruba traditional religion, whatever affects the Yorubas in Nigeria is also of our concern. We send our condolences to the leader of the Yoruba Afenifere group over the killing of his daughter and we urge the government of Nigeria to restore peace and tranquillity in the country.”
A Yoruba elder in Sao Paulo, Brazil, who identified himself as Alhaji Wasiu, a member of the Yoruba community in Brazil, said, “Yorubas in Brazil will continue praying for all Yorubas around the world. The spirit of our forefathers will bring peace and tranquillity to our land and our country, Nigeria. We send our condolences to Pa Fasoranti over the killing of his daughter, we request that the police should arrest and bring the killers to justice.”
The Yoruba community in Brazil is a sócio cultural organization that promotes the interests of all the Yoruba people living in Brazil and in the Latin American countries.
