About 9000 Brazilians are waiting to be vaccinated in a final test of a medically approved Chinese Sinovac vaccine expected to cure COVID-19 victims in the Latin American country where more than 90,383 people have been killed by the virus.

In conjunction with the Chinese government and its laboratory research institute, the state of Sao Paulo in Brazil and the Chinese institutes are handling the vaccination.

According to the State Governor, Mr Joao Doria, the country’s health regulator (Anvisa) has approved the Chinese Sinovac vaccine and has agreed that the Sao Paulo State research institute, ‘institute Butanta’ be responsible for the coordination and also for the exchange of health technology between both countries.

Brazil is expected to produce 120 million Sinovac vaccines before January 2021.
