A 15-year-old boy in Russia has reportedly been taken into custody after police say he fatally attacked his mother following a dispute over his tablet use.

Authorities report that the incident occurred after his mother, Alexandra Gabbasova, a 48-year-old accountant, confiscated his tablet to encourage him to complete his homework.

According to reports, the boy allegedly attacked his mother with an axe while she was resting in bed at their home near Moscow.

He then sealed off the door to her room and left for a nearby shop in the village of Krasnaya Storozhka, where he purchased chocolate.

Afterward, he reportedly played a video game and then used an online search engine to locate the nearest police station, where he later surrendered and confessed.

Gabbasova had recently become concerned about her son’s excessive gaming, reportedly up to 12 hours daily, which she felt was interfering with his school responsibilities.

Local news sources suggest that after she confronted him about neglected assignments and removed his devices, the argument escalated, leading to the attack.

Police estimate that Gabbasova had been dead for approximately four hours by the time they arrived.

The boy, described by his teachers as a “quiet” student, remains in custody as authorities continue their investigation.
