The United States embassy in Nigeria and its UK counterparts were among top diplomatic missions in the country that have acknowledged the invitation of National Pilot newspapers for its book presentation.
Other top embassies that have also received and acknowledge the invite include that of Canada, France, China, Germany and West African nations, including Ghana.
According to a statement received by NewsmakersNG, the event which is slated for Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos on April 14, 2021, will witness one of the largest gatherings of foreign missions in the country to discuss the issue of restructuring that is now at the epicentre of the country’s unity.
The invitation says, “Given the strong bilateral trade and political relationship between Nigeria and your countries, we believe this event, which promises to serve as another platform to find solutions to Nigeria’s economic and political problems, will be of great interest to you.
“We hope that you honour us with your presence and consider this as part of your duty to further strengthen the relationship between our countries.”
The ambassadors of the invited countries which cut across Americas, European, Asian and African contingents have all been designated as Guest of Honour.
Titled “ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION ON ECONOMY AND RESTRUCTURING IN NIGERIA”, the book, an outcome of a multi-level stakeholder roundtable discussion on the current issues in Nigeria, was published by the Mandate Publishing Limited, publishers of National Pilot Newspapers in pursuit of its objective of enriching public governance through policy-based interventions that inspire solutions to the challenges of leadership and governance in Nigeria.
Leading other key dignitaries to the auspicious event which will attract former and serving senators, House of Representatives members, ministers, local and foreign diplomats and key players in the country’s media and financial industries is the immediate past President of the 8th Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki who will be joined by his successor and predecessor of the prestigious office, Ahmed Lawan and David Mark respectively.
The latter is the chairman of the occasion while the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, will also be in attendance.
The chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum, Dr Kayode Fayemi will lead other invited governors to the event that will also feature Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state, Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) who will be the Chief Host. Other invitees are Ministers for Works and his Transportation counterpart, Babatunde Fashola and Rotimi Amaechi.
Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari are royal fathers of the day. Are Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, Chief Olabode George, former governors, Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun and Abdulfatah Ahmed are other top dignitaries expected to attend.
