Five members of a United Nations (U.N.) technical team, working along the border between Nigeria and Cameroon, have been killed in an attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
Several other victims were wounded in the attack, which occurred on Tuesday, at about 2pm, near the Cameroonian border town of Kontcha.
The United Nations Office for West Africa confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement said the victims included one U.N. independent contractor, three Nigerians and one Cameroonian.
The area where the incident occurred is known to serve as a hiding place for Boko Haram terrorists.
