The body of a Nigerian man was found hanging in mysterious circumstances early today in his apartment in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Following the discovery, authorities in South Africa have contacted the Nigerian community and its members in the country.
There were allegations that the dead man, simply identified as a citizen of Owerri, in Imo State committed suicide after having some misunderstandings on the phone with his associates in South Africa.
There’s a video in circulation showing his body hanging with his feet touching the floor.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the South African police are already on the case and investigations are on to discover the real cause of the death.
He was found dead in his apartment well dressed as if he was going out.
Some Nigerians who spoke with NewsmakersNG said that this would be the first time they would hear of a Nigerian committing suicide in South Africa.
