Bishop Shina Olaribigbe, founder of Rapture Empowerment International in Osogbo, Osun State, lost his life yesterday in a tragic incident while reportedly trying to mediate a domestic dispute.

The incident took place at the home of a woman who serves as an interpreter at Olaribigbe’s church.

She had been living separately from her husband due to ongoing marital conflicts. Witnesses reported that the husband arrived unexpectedly and found the bishop in the house, leading to a confrontation.

During the altercation, the husband allegedly stabbed Olaribigbe in the chest, killing him instantly. Both the husband and wife were subsequently taken into police custody.

Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola stated, “Preliminary findings suggest the husband believed there was an inappropriate relationship between the bishop and his wife, which appears to have fueled the conflict.”

Olaribigbe’s remains have been deposited at the University of Osun Teaching Hospital morgue as investigations continue.

Authorities have assured the public of a thorough inquiry into the matter.
