Billionaire Kidnapper Used 126 SIM Cards to Evade Arrest for Seven Years – Investigations …Other Secrets Revealed

Detectives tracking the activities of Nigerian billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, aka Evans, monitored 126 telephone lines before they could nail him.

Newsmakers made the discovery, among several others, while conducting special investigations into the life and crimes of the most wanted kidnapper whose 7-year reign was brought to an end on Saturday, June 10, in a sting operation involving the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team led by ACP Abba Kyari.

Newsmakers’ investigations also revealed that Evans is a stark illiterate, who could not even fill his chequebook, but he was efficiently running his kidnapping venture and moving money through the seemingly tight Nigerian banking system.

“He doesn’t know how to read or write. He only writes the figure and asks whoever is receiving the cheque to fill in the name and amount details in words,” one of his contractors located by Newsmakers revealed.

Newsmakers also learnt that George is the name that close relatives call Evans, who was described as a generous man who never priced or bargained when making a purchase.

“He will pay any amount you charge him without a bargain, and he is so crazy about interior decorations,” another source told Newsmakers. He supported the claims with exclusive pictures of projects executed in the house on Fred Shoboyede Road, in Magodo, Lagos, soon after Evans bought the property in March 2016 at N120million.

Exclusive pictures of the house under renovation last year.

He added, “He renovated and fitted the house with state of the art furniture; painted floors with a fortune and soon after replaced with tiles. It was all valued at close to N500million.

“He never negotiates the cost of any product or service. He pays the asking price. We painted the interior of his mansion with a special decorative paint known as 3D. The television in his guest sitting room was valued at N13 million, when converted from dollars then.

Wall decoration executed last year.

“He bought the two armchairs in his guest waiting room for N1.8 million. But we saw nothing around him to suggest he was involved in such high profile criminal activities.”

Evans was arrested in that house on June 10.

Three days into the investigations, the police also revealed exclusively to Newsmakers today how they nailed Evans through one of his 126 telephone lines.

Kyari said, “He almost got away with his crimes. No criminal has given me this kind of headache in my career. Not even the case of Godogodo or Vampire.

“I hardly sleep. Even when I’m in the toilet, I would be analysing over 100 numbers, checking out those he had conversations with. What we have gathered is like a book now. But the case was a hard nut to crack until we found something interesting in one particular number. Out of the 126 numbers, it was the only number that he was using to communicate with family members in Nnewi. We followed up on that, and he was nailed.”

The man who allegedly led Nigeria’s number one and most vicious kidnapping gang is a family man with five children – two boys and three girls

Investigations also revealed that Evans’ driver has his own official car.

Newsmakers learnt that he bought a Toyota Highlander SUV as private car for his personal driver.

It was also discovered that when he contracted workers for his mansion in Ghana from Nigeria, he later changed his mind after negotiating cost for suspected security reasons.

Another member of his team of building contractors, who revealed latest details to Newsmakers, said he and his colleagues had always suspected there was something sinister about Evans who they called George.

He said that he had once shared with his wife and colleagues his concern that none of them could point to any tangible thing they had done with the tidy fortune they made from working for Evans. It seemed they had frittered away all they earned inexplicably.

He added that they had to conclude that he must have done money ritual.

After a chat with Newsmakers, detectives are refocusing their investigations on Evans’ banking transactions that were never known.

According to the police, Evans’ career as a criminal began about 21 years ago after he allegedly killed a victim at the age of 16.
