The police in Ogun have held a 45-year-old man who allegedly defiled an 11-year-old girl, as they warned parents to stop sending children on night errands.

According to the state police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect identified as Musibau Asinde was arrested for having unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl in Ibese area of Ilaro.

Oyeyemi, in a statement sent to NewsmakersNG, says: “The 45-year-old suspect was arrested following a complaint from the mother of the victim one Idowu Riskat, who reported that she sent her daughter on errand at about 7:30 pm of 05/06/18 only for the girl who returned from the errand very late to complain that she was lured by the suspect with N100 note into his apartment where she forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

“On receiving the report, the DPO Ilaro Division, CSP Opebiyi Sunday led his men to the resident of the suspect where he was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime but blamed it all on the devil.

“The victim has been taken to Ilaro General Hospital for medical attention.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the suspect be transferred to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution. He equally advised parents to desist from sending their children out in the night, especially the female ones in order to save them from these types of animals in human skin.”
