Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has claimed in a tweet tonight that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State might soon dump the ruling All Progressives Congress for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

Senator Bruce claimed in the tweet, with the handle@benmurraybruce, that he personally invited Ortom to join the PDP.

He further claimed that the governor assured him today that he was “actively thinking about leaving the APC for PDP”.

Bruce’s tweet reads: “Yesterday, I invited Governor Ortom to join the @OfficialPDPNig and I am glad that today, he has officially confirmed that he is actively thinking about leaving the APC for the PDP. Right move Governor, right move. Light has no companionship with darkness. Benue belongs to PDP.”

Ortom has been engaged in a running battle with some of his colleagues in the APC as well as President Muhammadu Buhari since the enactment of the open grazing prohibition law in Benue State.

The governor also believe the federal government and security agencies have not done enough to address the persistent attacks against farmers in the state by suspected herdsmen, which has resulted in the death of scores of people.

Two PDP governors, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State visited Benue this week to condole with Ortom and the people of the state over the deaths.
