“Believe in Yourself”—Activist Ladyann Crown Fires Up Students on Career Day

Activist and Director of the 1242 Initiative, Ladyann Oluwatosin Crown, has challenged students of Ogijo Community High School, Ogun State, to take control of their futures by believing in their potential and adopting a growth mindset.

Speaking at the school’s Career Day, she inspired students to break free from limitations, pursue their passions, and set themselves on the path to success.

“Before you can pursue any career,” she said, “you must first believe in yourself. Everything starts with your mindset.”

She challenged the students to rise above their current circumstances and envision themselves as problem solvers in the global arena, encouraging them to choose careers that align with their passions rather than simply following trends or peer pressure.

Throughout her session, Crown underscored the importance of self-reflection and goal-setting. She urged students to regularly assess their decisions and progress, recommending they dedicate time at least three times a week to review their actions and future plans.

“By cultivating this habit, you’ll ensure that you’re consistently moving towards the life you aspire to live,” she added.

Speaking to the older students, particularly those in SS1 and above, Crown highlighted the value of the internet as a powerful tool for growth. While acknowledging the distractions it can pose, she encouraged the students to harness it for personal and professional development.

“The internet is a vast resource. Use it to acquire skills that will prepare you for your chosen career paths,” she said.

Concluding the session, Crown led the students in a series of positive affirmations, reinforcing the importance of a goal-oriented mindset. With enthusiasm, the students affirmed their commitment to personal excellence and making meaningful contributions to their communities.

The Career Day event left a lasting impact on the students of Ogijo Community High School, providing them with fresh perspectives on career planning, self-belief, and growth. Through her inspirational words, Ladyann Crown ignited a desire in the students to aim higher, believe in their potential, and actively pursue a brighter future.
