Badoo Hits Ikorodu Again, Kills Woman, 2 Children

The dreaded badoo cult struck again in Owode Ajegunle area of Ikorodu, in the early hours of Tuesday, killing three people and injuring one, according to unconfirmed reports.

Newsmakers learned that the latest victims included a woman, her two-year-old daughter and a female visitor and her daughter.

The victims were reportedly killed when suspected cultists attacked the Crystal Church of Christ (Aladura), at Victor Anibaba Street, while the victims were holding a prayer vigil.

Pictures, purported to be that of the victims, were posted online by a news blog, instablog9ja.

One of the victims, identified as Mrs Ajidara, is said to be the wife of the prophet in charge of the church.

Three of the victims, including the female visitor and the two children, have been confirmed dead.

Their identities could not yet be ascertained.

Officials of the Lagos Police Command contacted by Newsmakers neither confirmed nor denied the incident.

Spokesman for the police in Lagos, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, in a response to a text message from Newsmakers, stated: “Murder incident reported victims have been transferred to LASUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja) for treatment, while investigation is on going to apprehend the suspects involved in the attack.”

There were also reports that three suspected members of the cult, were apprehended by members of the vigilance group that has been assisting the police to maintain security in the town.

One of the suspects, believed to have participated in the latest killing, was rescued from a mob by a combined team of police and military officials.

The other two suspects, a male and a female, were caught around 4pm, while attempting to abduct two children.

While the man managed to escape, the woman was lynched and set ablaze by a mob.

Meanwhile, the police in Lagos has instructed residents of Ikorodu to always have on them a valid means of identification.

The command said this would be make its job easier, as the command would be carrying out a series of operations in the town to root out members of the badoo cult.
