The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, claimed he was subjected to a search by security agents on his return to Nigeria from Dubai today.
The former Vice President disclosed this in a post on his verified Twitter handle, @atiku.
He accused the security agents of trying to intimidate him.
His tweet reads: “I arrived to Abuja this morning to a search by agents of the state, aimed at intimidating me and my staff.
“I am committed to building a Nigeria where no citizen is intimidated by agents of state who are paid to protect them.”
Atiku returned from Dubai in a private jet around 12am, after spending over two weeks outside the country.
A special security team comprising the Army, Police, Customs and Immigration officers allegedly conducted a search of the aircraft that conveyed the former Vice President before he and members of his entourage were allowed to disembark.
The All Progressives Congress had last week called on security agencies to probe the former Vice-President over his trip.
