Five rams arrested by officers investigating a theft in Lagos have been released following prompt action by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, the livestock owner told NewsmakersNG.

According to the livestock owner, Mr Akanbi Maigida, the AIG has ordered the arrest of the officers involved in the matter.

“They’ve released my rams. Thank you for the publication. I learnt that the AIG at Zone ‘2’ is a no-nonsense officer. He has ordered the arrest and trial of the policemen. We were asked to meet with the DPO at Ikorodu. I saw the detained policemen brought out of the cell. They have begged me.”

Maigida had reported the matter to NewsmakersNG prompting a publication on the rams detained at the Ladegboye base of the Zonal Intervention Squad, Ikorodu.

He said that the rams were seized by policemen who raided a mechanic workshop in Ikorodu area of Lagos after receiving a report that a Lexus SUV was vandalized at the place the previous night.

The police allegedly moved in after receiving the report that the car’s brainbox was stolen overnight.
