The Nigerian Army has intensified its campaign against economic sabotage in Lagos, dismantling a suspected illegal bunkering site in the Orile area and arresting six suspects during a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the raid, carried out by troops of the 65 Battalion under the leadership of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected oil thieves operating within the area.

During the operation, the troops stormed the illegal bunkering site, apprehending six suspected oil bunkerers. They also recovered four trucks, a pumping machine, and assorted pipes and drums believed to have been used for the illicit siphoning and transportation of petroleum products.

Military authorities said the successful operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s determination to stamp out illegal bunkering and other forms of economic sabotage that continue to undermine the nation’s economy and security.

Following the operation, the suspects and all recovered exhibits were handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Commending the troops for the successful mission, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, praised their professionalism and urged them to sustain the offensive against economic sabotage and other criminal activities across the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

The latest breakthrough is part of ongoing security operations aimed at protecting critical national assets, disrupting criminal networks involved in oil theft, and strengthening law enforcement efforts across Lagos and neighbouring states.
