Armed Robbery: Ogun Police Arrest ‘Emir’ in Obada Oko

A suspected armed robbery kingpin identified as Ibrahim Fatai aka Emir has been arrested by the police in Ogun State.

According to the police, the suspect had been terrorizing Obada Oko, a community on the outskirts of Ogun State capital, Abeokuta and its environs.

The police told NewsmakersNG that Emir was nabbed on February 10, after he allegedly violently dispossessed one Tijani Sodiq of N120, 000 and two bags of rice along Araromi Street on February 5.

Ogun State police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, told NewsmakersNG that the suspect was sighted by the victim who quickly alerted the police.

He stated: “Upon the information, the DPO Obada Oko Division, CSP Bernard Ediogboyan swiftly mobilized his patrol team and moved to the scene where the suspect was apprehended. In the process of robbing his victim, he inflicted a grievous injury on the right wrist of the victim.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect who is a leading member of Eiye confraternity led hoodlums who vandalized Obada Oko Divisional Headquarters on October 21, 2020 during the EndSARS protest. He has confessed to many cult related fracas in Obada Oko and its environs.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation. He also directed that efforts should be on to apprehend the remaining members of the gang in order to put an end to their nefarious activities in the area.”
