Five days after heavy bombardments from Russia, Ukraine is bloody but unbowed as NATO allies step up military support to keep the country on its feet.
After an all-night bombardment, Russian forces advanced in the south, just as delegations from the two countries sat at a negotiating table today in Gomel, the southeastern part of Belarus.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky asked President Vladimir Putin for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine.
Zelensky has also appealed to the European Union (EU) to fast-track membership for Ukraine, a process that normally takes years.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, is under siege, but the residents and the mayor of the city are showing no sign of fear.

According to the mayor, Vitali Klitschko, the city is holding out with food and supplies, but the humanitarian catastrophe is worsening as “the infrastructure is destroyed to deliver food and medication”.
Klitschko, a retired professional boxer said he was beaming with pride as his city survives the Russian onslaught, which has entered its fifth day. Klitschko, however, expressed regret that the citizenry might not be able to hold on forever.
Klitschko, like President Zelenskyy, has no plans to evacuate the city.
He said, “We can’t do that, because all ways are blocked. All ways are blocked and right now we are encircled — everywhere is Russians and we don’t have a way to evacuate the people. And everyone who had plans to evacuate himself already moved.”
NewsmakersNG has obtained videos showing Russia’s latest massive bombardments and attacks on Ukraine.
