Kidnappers of Sen. Ayo Arise have reduced the ransom to N50 million.
The kidnappers had contacted the family immediately after abducting the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain on Sunday and demanded N80 million ransom.
Arise was kidnapped along Okene-Lokoja Road, along with his Personal Assistant and driver while returning to Abuja.
A family source told NewsmakersNG on Tuesday that the kidnappers had maintained regular contact with the senator’s immediate family members.
The source said the family had also been speaking with Arise himself, but declined to give further details.
Police authorities had maintained on Monday they were not aware of the kidnap of the senator.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Kogi State Command, ASP William Aya, reportedly told NAN in Lokoja that the Okene-Lokoja road, where the senator was allegedly kidnapped, was under effective policing.
He said that the claim was in doubt.
