Former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, has congratulated former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, on being awarded the prestigious 2025 Peace Prize.

In a congratulatory letter addressed to the former president, Dr. Arase praised Jonathan’s unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, and good governance, recognizing his efforts in fostering dialogue, stability, and national cohesion in Nigeria and across Africa.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, on being awarded the prestigious 2025 Peace Prize. This well-deserved recognition is a testament to your unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, and good governance, not only in Nigeria but across the African continent,” Arase wrote.

He further lauded Jonathan’s leadership qualities, stating: “Your leadership, marked by humility and a deep sense of patriotism, continues to inspire generations, and this honour reaffirms the immense impact of your efforts in fostering dialogue, stability, and national cohesion.”

Dr. Arase emphasized Jonathan’s dedication to conflict resolution, democratic transitions, and institutional reforms, noting that these efforts have set a remarkable precedent for leaders worldwide.

Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s President from 2010 to 2015, is widely respected for his leadership, particularly his historic decision to peacefully concede defeat in the 2015 presidential elections. His ongoing work in mediation and peace-building initiatives across Africa has earned him numerous accolades from international organizations and world leaders.

The 2025 Peace Prize serves as a reaffirmation of Jonathan’s influence as a champion of sustainable development and unity.

Dr. Arase expressed confidence that this recognition would further strengthen the former president’s resolve to advocate for democratic governance and stability in Africa and beyond.
