Police Service Commission chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase and IGP Kayode Egbetokun have highlighted the good qualities of the late CP Frank Odita who was buried today.
Dr. Arase in a statement extended his condolence to the IGP, the Nigeria Police Force, and the family of the late CP Frank Odita, a former Force Public Relations Officer who served between 1990 and 1992.
Dr. Arase prayed to God to give his family and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He extolled the qualities of the departed Officer who he said paid his dues as a forthright Police Officer and accomplished Public Relations practitioner.
The PSC Chairman commended the fraternity of the retired Police Officers who came to his assistance while he battled with sickness adding that the time has come for the welfare of retired Police Officers to be improved.
He regretted that most retired Officers even of senior ranks could hardly take care of themselves after retirement, a development he said was not good for the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
Dr. Arase noted that retired Police Officers have a lot to offer the nation and should be availed of the opportunity to be productively useful to themselves and the nation.
Egbetokun also mourned Odita. He noted that the late CP had made an indelible mark in the hearts of all who knew him and in the annals of the NPF.
His words: “CP Frank Odita’s commitment and exemplary service during his tenure as the Force PRO earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, the media, and the public. He played a pivotal role in enhancing the image of the Nigeria Police Force and fostering better relations with the media and the community.”
He described CP Odita’s passing as a great loss to the NPF family, adding that his contributions to the Force would be remembered and cherished.
The IGP extended what he called the heartfelt condolences of the Police to his family and loved ones, as he prayed for the repose of his soul. He reiterated that Odita would be remembered with respect and gratitude, and his legacy would continue “to inspire us as we strive for excellence in our duties”.
