APC Wins Ekiti 3 Senatorial Seats

The Independent National Electoral Commission today returned three All Progressives Congress candidates as winners of Saturday’s senatorial elections in Ekiti State.

They are Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central), the sitting senator who won reelection; Yemi Adaramodu (South), a House of Representatives member; and Mr Cyril Fasuyi (North), the former director general of Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Organisation.

INEC Returning Officer for Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Prof. Sola Omotola, declared Bamidele winner and returned elected having secured 69,351 votes to defeat his close rival, Lateef Ajijola of Peoples Democratic Party, who got 26,181 votes.

Also, the electoral body declared Adaramodu the winner of the election in the Southern Senatorial District, having polled 63,189 votes to defeat others including the close rival and incumbent senator, Biodun Olujimi of the PDP, who secured 36,191 votes.

In the same vein, the returning officer for Ekiti North Senatorial District, Prof Dosu Malomo, returned Fasuyi, who got 54,224 votes elected having defeated seven others including the PDP candidate, Funso Ayeni, who polled 39,976.

Malomo said, “I hereby announce and declare Cyril Fasuyi of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, the winner and of course, returned elected”.

Bamidele, who celebrated his victory with thanksgiving at Babamuboni Memorial Anglican Church, Iyin-Ekiti with his wife, family members, friends and associates on Sunday, praised God and appreciated the people of Ekiti Central Senatorial District for giving him yet another privilege and democratic mandate to represent them in the Senate.

The federal lawmaker also thanked the leadership and members of the Church for continued prayers and support and also sought for more prayers for the tasks and journey ahead, saying, “My main purpose of coming here today is to give thanks to Almighty God for His amazing grace over my life and family and for the success of the National Assembly and Presidential Election.

“We also came to seek spiritual blessings and benediction for the tasks ahead of us,” he said.
