National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has opened an early lead in the party’s presidential primary ongoing in Abuja.

Tinubu opened a wide lead over other major contenders after the completion of sorting of the first ballot box, following the conclusion of the election that held overnight.

According to reports, Tinubu recorded 201 votes, followed by former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi with 28 votes and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo with 22 votes. Others are, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan with six votes and Governor Yahya Bello of Kogi State with five votes. Three votes were declared void.

A total 2,322 delegates from the 774 local government areas of the country including the six area councils in the FCT are participating in the primary expected to produce the presidential candidate of the ruling party.
