Femi Ashekun/

Former Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had congratulated the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on his anticipated victory in the ongoing extraordinary convention of the party, in Abuja.

Though, voting in the election is still underway, Amosun has already taken the social media to offer his congratulations to the former Lagos State governor, who is the frontrunner in the contest, after seven other aspirants, including Amosun, announced that they were stepping down for him.

Amosun had made a post on his Facebook page, shortly after announcing that he was stepping down for Tinubu, to congratulate the latter.

The post simply reads, “Congratulations Sir.”

He accompanied the post with a photograph of himself shaking with Tinubu in a congratulatory fashion.

In an earlier post, Amosun had written, “Forward to Nigeria’s Future. I just stepped down for our leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to run for the Office of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Other aspirants who had announced that they were stepping down for Tinubu at the convention include, Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State and immediate past Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Others are, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole; Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, and Uju Kem-Ohanenye, an Abuja-legal practitioner and the only female aspirant.
