President Bola Tinubu

The Transformative Governance Forum (TGF) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over what it described as a major political consolidation following the defection of Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal to the ruling party.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, the group said the development raises the number of APC governors nationwide to 33, describing the shift as evidence of a growing political consensus around the administration’s policies and direction.

The forum, in the statement signed by Engr. Ademola Rabiu, said the realignment, coming alongside what it described as the party’s supermajority in the National Assembly, reflects a broader convergence among political leaders across the country.

According to the group, the increasing number of governors, senators and members of the House of Representatives aligning with the APC signals confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu.

“It is not merely a statistical achievement,” the statement said. “It is a clear indicator of the direction of travel for serious-minded politics in Nigeria today.”

The forum argued that the political movement toward the ruling party sends a strong message both locally and internationally that Nigeria’s political class is rallying behind a common governance agenda.

The organisation also criticised what it called “professional pessimists” who continue to question the government’s performance.

According to the TGF, such critics focus excessively on national challenges while overlooking the political consensus emerging among elected officials.
The group insisted that the growing alignment within the APC demonstrates that those holding electoral mandates across the federation are increasingly embracing what it called the party’s progressive ideology.

Describing the development as part of a broader democratic evolution, the forum said political consolidation should be viewed as the aggregation of purpose rather than the suppression of dissent.

It urged new members of the APC to contribute actively to governance and national development.

“As President Tinubu continues to steer the ship of state through both calm and difficult periods, it is natural that leaders across the political spectrum will choose to be part of the solution,” the statement said.

The group concluded that the consolidation within the ruling party reflects a growing national alignment behind its policy direction and governance agenda.
