An aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Epe Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Dr. Bakare Isiaka Adeyinka, has petitioned the party’s Primary Election Appeal Committee, alleging widespread irregularities and manipulation in the conduct of the exercise.
Adeyinka, through his lawyer, Yemi Omodele, described the May 16, 2026 primary election as fraudulent and unfair, urging the party to nullify the outcome and order a fresh poll.
In the petition dated May 18, 2026 and titled “A Letter of Protest and Request for Justice,” the aspirant alleged that the electoral process was marred by manipulation of figures, intimidation of supporters, and denial of voting rights to loyal party members.
According to the petition addressed to the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Appeal Committee, Adeyinka claimed he was kept in the dark about critical aspects of the election and the eventual declaration of results.
“This petition is written on the instructions of my client, Dr. Bakare Isiaka Adeyinka. My client is a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who obtained a nomination form to contest for the Federal House of Representatives, Epe Federal Constituency,” the petition stated.
It added: “The primary election was conducted on 16/05/2026, but the way and manner in which the election was conducted was unfair and unjust. My client was kept in the dark about the election and the results announced.”
The petitioner further alleged that election figures were altered, while supporters of the aspirant were allegedly chased away and prevented from voting.
“The grounds of this petition are as follows: there were manipulations in the election, figures were unduly changed, and loyalists of my client were chased away and disallowed from voting at the time of the election and announcement of results,” the lawyer wrote.
Adeyinka also alleged that registered APC members in the constituency were intimidated and denied the opportunity to participate in the exercise.
He further accused some law enforcement agents of aiding the alleged malpractice and claimed that members of the electoral committee openly sided with incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Wale Raji.
“The law enforcement agents were not left out, as they assisted Hon. Wale Raji to achieve his aims. Members of the electoral committee were loyalists of Hon. Wale Raji, which they displayed during the election. The results announced were different from the actual number of persons who voted,” the petition alleged.
The aspirant said he would present video and documentary evidence during the hearing of the petition to substantiate his claims.
He consequently urged the appeal committee to nullify the primary election conducted in the constituency, set aside the declaration of Hon. Wale Raji, and order a fresh and transparent exercise “in the interest of justice.”
