The Association of Nigeria Theatre-Arts Practitioners (ANTP) will celebrate the enduring legacy of the late theatre icon, Hubert Ogunde, at the Iwure Day event in Ososa, Ogun State, tomorrow.

The event, which kicks off the association’s annual activities, will feature prayers from Christian, Islamic, and traditional faiths. High Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon will lead the traditional prayer session, while Pastor Bisi Sunday and Alfa Mukadam will lead the Christian and Islamic prayers, respectively.

A key highlight of the day will be a homage to Oba Abdulmajeed Toyese Alatise, the traditional ruler of Ososa, and a visit to the Hubert Ogunde Museum. Esteemed figures such as Ambassador Yemi Farounbi, a long-time supporter of the association, Chief Lere Paimo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Chief Oyewole Olowomojuore, along with other prominent members, are expected to attend.

Dr. Rasak Baroka Oyadiran, the National President of ANTP, described Iwure Day as the flagship event of the association’s calendar. He emphasized that the occasion honors Hubert Ogunde, ANTP’s first and only life president, and celebrates his invaluable contributions to Nigerian theatre.

Dr. Oyadiran assured attendees that the event would be a vibrant celebration of Ogunde’s legacy, which continues to inspire generations in the performing arts.
