The Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency in Equatorial Guinea, Baltasar Engonga, has announced his resignation amid shocking allegations of recording over 400 explicit videos in which he slept with the wives of prominent figures in the country.
Engonga was busted during a fraud investigation involving the 54-year-old economist, which led to an unannounced search of his home and office by ANIF officials. During the search, investigators discovered multiple CDs that contained the compromising videos.
Reports indicate that the footage includes encounters with high-profile individuals, including his brother’s wife, his cousin, the sister of the President of Equatorial Guinea, the wife of the Director General of Police, and approximately 20 wives of government ministers, among others.
Reports quoted Equatorial Guinea’s Attorney General saying Engonga will be charged with an offence against public health if he is found to have an STD.
The videos, which were reportedly recorded with consent, have since leaked online, igniting a media firestorm.
