The Police in Ogun have arraigned the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the accident that claimed two lives and injured former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua.
In an official update, the Command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, a 46-year-old male, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today.
According to Babaseyi, the case has been adjourned to January 20, 2026 for further hearing.
The fatal crash occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway when the Lexus SUV reportedly rammed into a stationary truck, resulting in the deaths of two occupants of the vehicle. Anthony Joshua, who was also in the SUV at the time, sustained injuries and he was rushed to the hospital.
Babaseyi stated that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing, assuring members of the public that the Command remains committed to due process and transparency in handling the case.
The development marks a significant step in the legal process following the high-profile accident, which sparked widespread public attention and concern over road safety on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.
