The Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, Ahmad Muhammad Asha, has died in the early hours of today at the age of 71.
NewsmakersNG learnt that that the emir, who had battled diabetes and hypertension for a long time, was awaiting the result of a COVID-19 test carried out on him before he passed on.
According to the Publicity Secretary for the Control and Prevention of COVID-19 in the state, Alhaji Mustafa Jafaru Kaura, the emir had been in isolation at the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau three days ago.
He reportedly spent some days in his palace taking treatment before he suffered a relapse, prompting his evacuation to the Hospital.

He is survived by three wives and 11 children.
The late emir is expected to be buried later today in Kaura Namoda by officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) according to Islamic rites.
